THE DUKE SPIRIT TO RELEASE EXCLUSIVE ALBUM AT TARGET STORES

Disc will feature material never-before released in the US, previously-released favorites, and bonus cover track!

UK rock band The Duke Spirit announces the release of an exclusive 10-track album to be sold exclusively at Target stores and on Target.com. The disc -- which will be available beginning February 24th, 2009 -- will feature material never released in the US as well as previously-released favorites. As a special bonus, the record will include a cover of Alex Chilton's "Baby Doll".

The collection of songs will be sold alongside a new fashion collection, McQ Alexander McQueen for Target. The limited-time-only designs were inspired by The Duke Spirit and the band's magnetic front woman Liela Moss.

Moss says, "I am ecstatic to be an aspect of Alexander McQueen's work. I have always been fascinated by the way he brings the raw, symbolic beauty of the natural world sharply into play with a regal, noble, architectural force. Thematically, The Duke Spirit and McQueen tread a similar path at times...Antlers, Feathers and the stuff of the pastoral idyll, stumble into a loud, sweaty pit of punk rock. We love it!"

Hailing from London, The Duke Spirit has released two albums in the US. Their debut, Cuts Across the Land, and Neptune, the most recent LP released in April 2008 via Los Angeles based independent label Shangri La Music. A rock band with all the tempestuous lyrical smarts of the Velvet Underground with the icy glare of Nico, The Duke Spirit sound is complete with teeth-clenching guitars, powerful drum cascades and brilliant bass lines that build relentless tracks, drenched in subtleties. Known for their electric live show, Liela Moss leads the band with her husky voice and trusted tambourine in tow, channeling the energy of a young Rob Tyner from MC5.

The Duke Spirit will be releasing a new video for "My Sunken Treasure" directed by Adria Petty, this February. They will also continue to tour across the US through 2009 and will be performing on Jimmy Kimmel Live on March 19th. Stay tuned for more confirmed tour dates.
